Intel has published the first 2025 update for APO

Intel continues to expand the capabilities of its Application Optimizer (APO) tool by adding support for new processors and games. In the latest update, the company announced the inclusion of support for Core Ultra 200S series and 14th generation processors, as well as the addition of 15 new game titles, including popular projects such as Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, Dyson Sphere Program and God of War.

Intel’s latest APO update includes support for the Core Ultra 200S series and 14th generation processors.

According to Intel, the new game profiles in APO deliver significant performance gains of up to 14% in some cases. For example, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition shows a 14% performance improvement when using APO on the flagship Core Ultra 9 285K processor. Dyson Sphere Program gets an 11% boost, Cities: Skylines gets a 9% boost, and The Callisto Protocol, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Shushan: The First Chapter, and World of Warships all get 3% to 4% boosts.

In addition, the update has a positive impact on minimum FPS values, which is especially important for smooth gameplay. For example, Dyson Sphere Program saw a 21% increase in minimum FPS, World of Warships saw a 9% increase in minimum FPS, and Cities: Skylines saw a 5% increase in minimum FPS.

Application Optimizer, first launched in 2023, addresses inefficient thread allocation on Intel hybrid processors with different types of cores. Unlike simply disabling power-efficient cores, APO dynamically adjusts thread allocation in real time, taking into account the specifics of each game and processor model. APO now officially supports all Arrow Lake-S series K-series processors, as well as 14th generation K-series processors and Core Ultra and Core HX mobile processors.

AAPO officially supports all Arrow Lake-S series processors, as well as 14th generation K-series processors and Core Ultra and Core HX mobile processors.

An “Advanced Mode” is available for the rest of the processor models, including non-K processors from the 12th generation Alder Lake. It allows users to manually add games that have not been officially validated, potentially improving performance. However, Intel warns that in some cases this can lead to performance degradation, so it’s recommended that you test the results yourself.

Additional mode is available on all processors including 12th generation Alder Lake processors.

This is the first APO update in 2025, and Intel is committed to continuing to develop and improve its software to ensure maximum performance in games on its processors.
