Huawei will release a new Kirin 830 chipset

Last year, Huawei said there would be no Kirin chipsets in 2023, calling the reports «false news». Nine months have passed, and we’ve seen the company announce the Mate 60 series with the Kirin 9000S platform. And now it has been revealed that another SoC — the Kirin 8 series is planned.
And now it has been revealed that another SoC is planned — the Kirin 8 series.
The new chip will likely be called Kirin 830, and according to the leak, it will be released alongside the nova 12 series «later this year».

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about this chipset, but it’s only now that we’ve learned about its timing. The names nova 12 and nova 12 Pro have appeared on some leaked reports, suggesting that the Kirin 830 chip will only be used in the base version of the smartphone. The phone will feature three cameras on the back, a powerful 60MP selfie camera on the front, and 88W charging support.

The Kirin 830’s performance is rumored to be on par with the Snapdragon 778G or Snapdragon 870. The more important question is who will manufacture the chipset, as 5G technology and patents are still owned by US companies that are prohibited from trading with Huawei or its subsidiary chipset maker HiSilicon.
