AMD unveiled the Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor

AMD has unveiled the new Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, which replaces the 7800X3D and promises an average 8% increase in gaming performance. In some games, the increase can be as much as 26%.
The new 9800X3D, like its predecessor, features 96MB of L3 cache: 32MB on the core (CCD) and 64MB on an additional 3D V-Cache layer. AMD’s innovative solution is to place the 3D V-Cache under the CCD, which they claim improves heat dissipation.

Main Features:
- Three crystals: CCD on 4nm TSMC process, 3D V-Cache and I/O crystal on 6nm TSMC.
- L2 cache: 8MB (104MB cache total).
- 8 cores of Zen 5 architecture and 16 threads with SMT support.
- Base frequency – 4.7 GHz, single core overclocked to 5.2 GHz (compared to the 7800X3D’s maximum of 5.0 GHz).
- TDP: 120W.
.
To the delight of fans, the 9800X3D is the first X3D series processor with a unlocked multiplier, allowing overclocking enthusiasts to exceed the claimed 5.2GHz ceiling with adequate cooling.

Compatibility and price
The processor is compatible with AM5 motherboards and will launch worldwide on November 7 at a price of $480. In the tests presented, AMD claimed an average 20% advantage in gaming (in FPS) over the Intel Core 9 Ultra 285K, with some titles like Cyberpunk 2077 seeing gains of up to 59%.
