Adata has launched SE920 external SSD with USB4

ADATA has launched its first external SSD, the SE920, with support for USB 4, Thunderbolt 3/4, USB 3.2/2.0 backwards compatibility and active cooling.
The manufacturer announced the Adata SE920 back in 2021 and showed it off at Computex 2023 earlier this summer. The release of the device was delayed, but the company has managed to further “pump up” its characteristics in the meantime.
Addata’s SE920 is a new device that’s been on the market for a while now.
The Adata SSD SE920 external drive will be available in 1TB and 2TB versions. It supports USB4, Thunderbolt 3 and 4, and is backwards compatible with USB 3.2 and USB 2.0. The device uses the familiar USB Type-C connector for connectivity. USB4 support offers transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps, but this inevitably leads to component heating, which can affect performance. To address this issue, Adata has equipped the SE920 with a small cooling fan.
The SE920 external SSD originally claimed a read speed of 3800 MB/s and a write speed of 3200 MB/s, which is already faster than almost any other external SSD from other manufacturers. However, before the release of the drive, the company has increased its write speed to 3700 MB/s. The drive can transfer a 10GB 4K video file in about three seconds.
The SE920 is compatible with a variety of operating systems and platforms including Android, macOS and Windows, as well as gaming consoles.
Besides the flagship SSD, the company introduced the SD620 and SC610 SSDs. The SD620 is MIL-STD-rated to withstand 1.22-meter drops, with data transfer rates of up to 520MB/s and support for all devices. The SC610 offers an ultra-lightweight, portable, flash drive-like design with data transfer rates of 550/500 MB/sec.
