Stellar Blade became the second PlayStation game on Steam to break the 100,000 concurrent player milestone

The recently released PC version of Stellar Blade has become only the second PlayStation-published game to break the 100,000 concurrent players mark on Steam.

The PC port was released on Wednesday, and since then, the number of concurrent users has continued to gradually grow. At the time of writing, the peak number of players stands at 100,904.

So the game, published on Steam by Sony through its PlayStation Publishing LLC division, has joined the «six-figure» club. However, it still has a long way to go to the all-time record holder, Helldivers 2, which amassed 458,709 concurrent players at its peak.

The top 10 PlayStation games in terms of peak online play on Steam are currently as follows:

  1. Helldivers 2 – 458,709
  2. Stellar Blade – 100,904
  3. Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut – 77,154
  4. God of War – 73,529
  5. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered – 66,436
  6. Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition – 56,557
  7. Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition – 40,462
  8. The Last of Us Part 1 – 36,496
  9. God of War Ragnarok – 35,615
  10. The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered – 30,690

The PC version of Stellar Blade has received a number of improvements and innovations, including 25 new costumes, a new boss, DLSS and FSR support, improved high-resolution textures, support for ultra-wide screens, and more. The Shift Up developer has confirmed that some of this content will also be available on PS5 as part of a free update.

The company also confirmed plans for a sequel last month. Its financial report indicated that between 2024 and 2027, it plans to «expand platforms» (likely referring to a PC release) and release a sequel.

If all goes according to plan, Stellar Blade 2 could come out as early as 2026 – which is a pretty quick development cycle for a modern AAA game.

The original Stellar Blade came out on PlayStation 5 last year, and sales have already surpassed 1 million copies worldwide.
