Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be released in early 2024 on two discs
By ForGeeks Square Enix has released a new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailer, which you can watch below. In the trailer, which premiered during Thursday’s Summer Game Fest show, Cloud, Aerith and the rest of the game, which came out at the end of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, explore the walls outside of Midgar. It includes several combat encounters and full CG scenes, and the ending confirms that the game for PS5 will be released «early 2024» on two discs.
Unlike Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which was released for PS4 in 2020 and released on PS5 and PC the following year, Rebirth will not be available for Sony’s latest generation of consoles. The second installment of the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy was announced in June 2022. Producer Yoshinori Kitase said then that Rebirth would be «released next winter» that is, in late 2023 or early 2024.

In last week’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth update, Kitase said: «Development is proceeding smoothly and according to plan, and we are currently working to clarify the game’s release date».
Square Enix also said that players will not need to go through Final Fantasy 7 Remake to enjoy Rebirth. «We’ve made preparations so that players who didn’t have time to play the first game can fully enjoy Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth» —said co-director Motomu Toriyama.
