Screenshots from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remaster have leaked online

It looks like the wait for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remaster is coming to an end. On Tuesday, a major leak occurred that led users to find files and screenshots from the game on developer Virtuos’ website. The page was promptly deleted, but fans managed to save the materials, reinforcing the hope that the favorite part of the series will be announced soon.
According to Eurogamer, Bethesda had planned a surprise release for the game, titled The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, as early as Monday, April 21. Despite its close ties to Xbox, the remaster is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and straight to Game Pass.
The Virtuos website showed comparative graphics images of the 2006 original and the upcoming remaster. The difference is obvious – the world of Sirodil looks truly impressive on the new consoles. Images of the deluxe edition, which reportedly includes the infamous horse armor DLC, have also been leaked.

The remaster will rework key mechanics: combat, interface, and interaction physics. Updated blocking will be inspired by Soulslike games, and the stealth icon will be illuminated. The stamina system will also change, and archery will be redesigned.
Rumors of an Oblivion remaster have been circulating almost since its release in 2006. The first serious information came in 2020 after a leaked Microsoft roadmap outlined a plan for a remaster. In 2023, a former Virtuos employee confirmed that we’re actually talking about a full-fledged remake on Unreal Engine 5, despite the Remastered prefix.
