EA looks more confident about launching a new Battlefield after GTA 6 delayed
By ForGeeks Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said the company is feeling more relaxed ahead of the release of the next game in the Battlefield series – especially after Grand Theft Auto VI was officially delayed until the end of May 2026.
At the time of the financial recap, EA confirmed: the next Battlefield will be released before the end of March 2026. A full announcement of the project will take place this summer.
It’s interesting that the announcement comes just days after Rockstar Games announced that GTA 6 would be delayed until May 26, 2026. That creates a time gap of at least two months between the releases of the big shooter and the open-world blockbuster.
When asked by an investor about how the delay of GTA 6 affects competitors’ plans and expectations for Battlefield, Wilson replied:
“Today, games take years to develop, and if you weren’t already ready for release in that period, it’s unlikely you can move dates and take advantage of a less competitive window,” he noted.”However, we’re confident that Battlefield will be ready for release by March 2026.”
E EA says the postponement of GTA 6 creates a convenient window in the market, but not everyone will be able to take advantage of it because of the difficulty of quickly changing release dates.
