Xiaomi unveiled a 5000 mAh ultra-thin magnetic powerbank with wireless charging

Xiaomi has launched a new 5000 mAh ultra-thin magnetic powerbank (model WPB0507S) in China. The device is already available for purchase on JD.com and other online marketplaces at a price of 169 yuan, which is equivalent to about $23. The novelty stands out with support for wireless charging up to 7.5W and a slim body that’s only 8.7mm thick.

Compact body, high energy density and long-lasting battery

To reduce the size while maintaining capacity, Xiaomi has used a high energy density battery based on lithium cobalt oxide. The density has reached 734Wh/L, which is 12.9% higher than the previous generation. The company claims that the battery retains more than 80% of its initial capacity even after 300 charge cycles.

The battery has a high energy density of 734Wh/L, up 12.9% from the previous generation.

Wired and wireless charging – simultaneously

The device supports charging two devices at once: via the wired USB-C port and wirelessly. Wired charging reaches up to 22.5W, wireless charging up to 15W (5W, 7.5W, 10W and 15W levels are supported). The powerbank features 17 N52 magnets that provide up to 10 Newtons of bonding force – enough to securely connect to MagSafe-compatible iPhones and other devices.
