Sony introduced the WH-1000XM6 headphones with improved noise canceling for $450

Sony has updated its flagship line of full-size wireless headphones – the WH-1000XM6 is now even quieter, more comfortable, and a little more expensive.
The price of the new product is $449 (about 36 thousand rubles at the exchange rate as of May 15, 2025). That’s $50 more than the previous WH-1000XM5 cost at launch. However, the new version has a lot of upgrades, too.

The case is still foldable – the headphones fit comfortably into the case, which has gotten more compact. Instead of a zipper, the case now uses a magnetic closure, which means it’s faster to open and close with one hand.
The Verge notes that the headband is a little wider and puts less pressure on your head. The ear cushions are made of faux leather and can be easily removed when needed.

The main improvement is the active noise canceling system. The WH-1000XM6 now has 12 microphones (instead of 8 in the last model), and the processing algorithms are more accurate. According to Bloomberg, the headphones also support stereo-to-spatial conversion, which makes movies and 3D content much better.

Sound quality has also been redesigned, with Sony claiming clearer and richer sound. However, the battery life remains the same: up to 30 hours with active noise cancellation and up to 40 hours without it. Fast charging is still impressive – just 3 minutes gives up to 3 hours of playback. You can also listen to the headphones while they’re charging.
