The first products with Apple’s M5 chip could debut this week

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to release its fall lineup of products based on the M5 chip as soon as this week. In the latest Power On newsletter, Gurman expects announcements of a refreshed iPad Pro, an improved Vision Pro with a new strap, and a new base model MacBook Pro. All will presumably be equipped with Apple’s latest chips.
The MacBook Pro with the M5 chip was previously scheduled to launch early next year, but has now been pushed back to the fall. Gurman also notes that Apple had previously anticipated releasing the updated MacBook Pro in early 2026, but recently said that the company is close to starting mass production of its new laptops.
Apple has also said that the company is close to starting mass production of its new laptops.
Another hint of an imminent release is the dwindling inventory of the M4-based MacBook Pro in Apple stores, with the M4 Pro and M4 Max models still available in sufficient quantities. Gurman also noted that the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips likely won’t go into mass production until early next year.
As for October announcements, don’t expect a major event like the iPhone 17 unveiling. Apple will likely unveil the remaining lineup of fall models online, similar to what it did last year with the MacBook Pro in October.
