MSI motherboards now support RAM up to 256GB

MSI has released beta BIOS versions for Intel Z790 chipset motherboards with support for installing up to 256GB of RAM. At the moment we know that the firmware has been released for the flagship Z690 Godlike and MEG Z90 ACE board, but it’s possible that support for 256GB of RAM will appear on other models in the near future. According to the manufacturer, there are plans to expand the range of Intel 700-series boards with support for 256 GB of RAM and release BIOS with a similar feature for Intel 600-series boards. Speaking of which, MSI is testing 256GB RAM support on the Z790 Carbon MAX WIFI board.

Motherboard manufacturers have previously declined to introduce support for large memory capacity due to compatibility issues. Support for 256GB of memory will make it much easier to choose the right RAM kit and will be useful in usage scenarios such as digital content creation and rendering. It should be noted that manufacturers are already developing 64GB RAM modules, which will be available in sets totaling 256GB. It should be noted that the cost of such kits is currently an open question.
