Lenovo Legion Go announced with 144Hz LCD and Ryzen Z1 series chipset

Lenovo is entering the Windows-based portable gaming device market with its own competitor — the Legion Go. This gaming device features an 8.8-inch LCD display with QHD+ (1,600 x 2,560px) resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The touch panel has a 16:10 aspect ratio and brightness up to 500 nits. It supports a variety of resolutions from 1600p to 800p and can reduce the refresh rate to 60Hz for more efficient power management.

Lenovo, taking inspiration from the Nintendo Switch, has equipped the Legion Go with Legion TrueStrike detachable controllers and a footrest. The controllers feature joysticks with multiple buttons, including a touchpad, 10 reassignable shoulder triggers, and a scroll wheel.

Lenovo has gone a step further and added a controller base module that attaches to the right controller with magnets and allows the controller to be lifted up and used as a mouse. The right controller has an optical sensor at the bottom, just like a real mouse.
Lenovo has settled on AMD’s Ryzen Z1-series chipsets, with configurations up to the Z1 Extreme. RDNA 3 graphics are responsible for the GPU. The Legion Go configuration includes a PCIe Gen4 SSD up to 1TB (M.2 2242 size), as well as a microSD card slot that supports additional storage up to 2TB. All models come with 16GB of 7,500MHz LPDDR5x RAM.

Cooling is handled by a dedicated system consisting of a fan with liquid polymer blades that runs at 25dB while delivering 25W of total graphics power (TGP) in user mode. In terms of I/O, there are two USB-Type C ports (USB 4.0, DisplayPort 1.4, Power Delivery 3.0), a microSD slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. The Legion Go also boasts support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

Legion Go features a 49.2Wh dual-cell battery that supports fast charging, providing 0 to 70% charge in 30 minutes. The Legion Go also supports a power-off mode when playing with the power plugged in to conserve battery power. Lenovo ships it with a 65W PD charger.
