Lenovo and Valve prepare to unveil SteamOS gadget at CES 2025

Valve continues to develop SteamOS, its Linux-based operating system, giving gamers an alternative to Windows. The move not only strengthens Valve’s position, but also opens up new opportunities for users, which is rumored to be of interest to third-party hardware manufacturers.

SteamOS on Lenovo devices

Rumors that Lenovo might release a SteamOS-powered gaming device have started to take shape. A recent leak from Evan Blass showed images of a handheld device from Lenovo, presumably called the Legion Go S. The images show a Steam button on the left side of the device, which emphasizes its integration with Valve’s ecosystem.

In addition, The Verge reported that it has received an invitation to a CES 2025 event titled “Lenovo Legion x AMD: The Future of Gaming Handhelds.” The event’s program lists Valve, represented by Steam Deck designer Pierre-Loup Griffe, as a “special guest”. This pretty much confirms Valve’s involvement with Lenovo’s project.
