Garmin is preparing integration with Google Health Connect

The market is full of flagship smartwatches like Google’s Pixel Watch 3 and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Ultra, but Garmin’s devices remain among the best for fitness-tracking enthusiasts. One of the key missing features in Garmin smartwatches, however, has long been support for Google Health Connect.
Some of the key missing features in Garmin’s smartwatches are Google Health Connect.
That finally changed in May 2025, when Google announced at I/O 2025 that Health Connect would soon begin supporting Garmin Connect and syncing data from the brand’s app. The company had originally given a June 2025 timeframe for this integration.
The company had originally given a June 2025 deadline for this integration.
The deadline has already passed, but Garmin and Google Health Connect synchronization has yet to work. However, Garmin has already released information about what data will be available for sharing once the integration becomes active.
The Garmin support page indicates that the Garmin Connect app will be able to send the following data to Health Connect:
- Active and total calories burned
- Cadence of pedaling while cycling
- Distance traveled
- Height gained
- Heart rate data
- Speed
- Number of steps
- Greaves when swimming
- Body fat percentage
- Calories burned
- Floors Elevated
- Sleep data
- Step distance
- Weight
It’s important to note that synchronization will be one-way – Garmin won’t receive any data from Google. In addition, Garmin’s own metrics – such as body battery, training load, and running endurance – will remain exclusive to Garmin Connect, as Health Connect does not support these types of data.
It’s important to note that synchronization will be one-way – Garmin will not receive any data from Google.
Also, because synchronization works only one way, workouts tracked on other devices will not appear in the Garmin Connect app.
This is nonetheless an important step toward making Garmin data available in other apps that utilize the Health Connect platform. While the exact launch date for the integration is still unknown, the hint of June in Google and Garmin’s initial announcement makes it hopeful that it’s coming soon.
