The new generation of beyerdynamic DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII professional studio headphones

beyerdynamic introduces a new generation of its popular premium studio headphones – the DT 1770 PRO MKII with closed acoustic design and the DT 1990 PRO MKII with open acoustic design. Both models are based on the latest TESLA.45 driver developed and manufactured in Heilbronn, Germany.
Improved sound for today’s music projects
The first version of these headphones gained popularity due to their high-quality sound, comfortable fit and “Made in Germany” reference assembly. The second generation DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII offer improved features geared to the needs of today’s producers.

The DT 1770 PRO MKII is ideal for recording, monitoring and editing. The sound features powerful bass, transparent mids and detailed highs. Product Manager Kevin Nitsch emphasizes: “An important factor in recording vocals and instruments is the comfort of the artist. The sound profile of the DT 1770 PRO MKII supports this atmosphere while remaining detailed and accurate.”

The DT 1990 PRO MKII open model delivers natural and spacious sound, making it ideal for mixing, mastering and editing. Compared to its predecessor, the treble at 8kHz has been slightly lowered to avoid mixing errors. Acoustic engineer Ante Michal said, “We wanted to achieve a balanced sound in the DT 1990 PRO MKII so that today’s complex high-frequency compositions sound smoother.”

TESLA.45 – the new driver for powerful sound
The key element of the new lineup is the TESLA.45 driver, designed with an optimized neodymium magnet. A magnetic field with a density of more than one tesla creates exceptional power and sonic clarity. Diaphragm vibrations are minimized for accurate and rich bass reproduction, while the lightweight aluminized copper wire coil enhances treble quality.

Designed for long studio sessions
All headphone models feature a rugged design with a spring steel headband proven over decades of use. Velour ear cushions prevent overheating and the soft foam in the headband is complemented by a durable leather trim, making the headphones comfortable for extended wear. Additional ear cushions and headband are easy to replace when needed.

Professional level packaging
The DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII come with two sets of ear cushions. The DT 1990 PRO MKII velour ear cushions provide three-dimensional sound with a slight bass boost, while the mixing and mastering version delivers analytical reference sound. Both models feature detachable 3 meter and 5 meter (spiral) cables, each with a rugged 3-pin mini-XLR connector. The entire package is stored in a sturdy carrying case.

Availability and cost
The DT 1770 PRO MKII and DT 1990 PRO MKII headphones are available for €549 including VAT. You can buy them from the official beyerdynamic website, as well as from Amazon and specialist retailers. Spare ear cushions and accessories can be ordered as an option.
