Asus unveils first fitness bracelet with pressure and ECG measurement

Asus has unexpectedly become the first brand to release a fitness bracelet capable of measuring blood pressure and taking an electrocardiogram (ECG) – features that were previously only available in full-fledged smartwatches. The new VivoWatch 6 AERO is a compact and technologically advanced device that combines precise sensors, a lightweight body and a powerful set of health features.

The wristband weighs just 27 grams (along with the strap), and the display is a compact 1.1-inch AMOLED. The device has a 135 mAh battery that lasts for 5 days of normal use or up to 7 days in power-saving mode.

The main feature is the presence of PPG and ECG sensors embedded directly into the body using a special sputter deposition technology. In addition, the bracelet has a GPS, accelerometer, and can track blood oxygen level (SpO₂), heart rate, steps, calories burned, and sleep quality.
