Aqua Computer introduced AMPINEL’s smart “fire protection” adapter for GeForce RTX

German company Aqua Computer has introduced a controller for NVIDIA graphics cards with a 12V-2×6 connector. The main feature of the device is that it prevents problematic power pins from melting without requiring an emergency system shutdown.

Unlike previously released “fuses” from other manufacturers, the new solution does not cut power to the GPU at the first sign of trouble, but instead redirects the load between the power pins. If the current on any line exceeds 7.5A, the adapter distributes the current evenly among the other connectors.

The AMPINEL uses a six-layer board to optimize power distribution, and the power connector for the graphics card has additional reinforcement to ensure reliable contact.
The status of the power supply circuitry is shown both on the on-board display and in specialized software. This utility also notifies the user of any problems with the GPU.

In a critical situation, a special program can close an application that is putting excessive load on the graphics card. If this fails, the power circuit will be broken, preventing the contacts from melting. The AMPINEL adapter will be available soon in Europe for 79 euros (7,500 rubles).
