Apple cut Vision Pro production targets

Apple has reportedly significantly shortened the production timeline for its long-awaited Vision Pro mixed reality headset. Announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, the headset will cost $3,499 when it goes on sale in the U.S. in early 2024.

Named «the first spatial computer», the Vision Pro will also be released in other countries next year. According to a Financial Times report, the company has set a goal of selling one million Vision Pro units within the first year on the market.

But that figure has reportedly been lowered because of the complexity of the headset’s design and manufacturing difficulties. Insiders said they are preparing to produce fewer than 400,000 units next year. Two suppliers also told the publication that Apple is requesting enough components to produce 130,000 to 150,000 devices in 2024.

It’s also reported that Apple is working on future generations of the headset, including a cheaper version with Korean display makers Samsung and LG.
