Apple unveiled the budget smartwatch Watch SE 3 with Always-On screen

Apple has updated its lineup of affordable smartwatches with the introduction of the Apple Watch SE 3. The 2025 model gets a faster S10 processor, improved battery life, and the long-awaited Always-On screen.

The company revealed the device at a presentation alongside the new iPhones. The Watch SE remains the base model in the lineup – it’s the third version of the affordable smartwatch.

What’s different about the Apple Watch SE 3
Apple is positioning the SE as a mix of past and current flagship model technologies. The new Watch SE 3 gets:
- S10 processor for faster performance;
- Screen with Always-On mode, which was previously unavailable in this series;
- increased battery life;

The previous generation Watch SE came out in 2022. It used the body and display from the Apple Watch Series 6, but got the S8 processor from the Series 8 and Ultra. The features were cut back – there were no temperature, ECG, or blood oxygen sensors, and no Always-On screen.

Pricing and positioning
Watch SE has traditionally remained Apple’s most affordable model. The previous version was priced from $249 for the 40mm variant and $279 for the 44mm. The Watch SE 3 continues the same strategy, taking the body and design from the older series, but without a number of advanced sensors.
