Apple has declared the 11-inch MacBook Air and two MacBook Pro’s obsolete

Apple has updated the list of obsolete devices on its website, adding three laptop models to the list. Among them is the latest MacBook Air, which has a compact 11-inch display.
Which devices have lost support
- MacBook Air (11″, Early 2015)
- MacBook Pro (13″, 2017, with 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports)
- MacBook Pro (15″, 2017)
The “obsolete” status means that more than seven years have passed since the end of sales. Apple and authorized service centers will stop repairing them, though battery replacement is available in some cases – up to 10 years, parts permitting.
The end of the 11-inch era
The 11-inch MacBook Air was discontinued in October 2016, when Apple introduced the first MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. However, the model’s arrival on the list only in 2025 hints that its sales through resellers continued through at least 2018.

Today, the MacBook Air comes in versions with a diagonal of 13.6 and 15.3 inches. The company is rumored to be preparing a new 12.9-inch MacBook based on the A18 Pro processor from the iPhone 16 Pro.
