Yandex will increase investment in education to 5.3 billion rubles by the end of 2025
By ForGeeks Yandex is scaling up its involvement in education initiatives and plans to invest 5.3 billion rubles in the development of educational programs by the end of 2025 – that’s one and a half times more than the previous year. The main focus is on training specialists in IT and artificial intelligence, as well as creating new learning formats for schools and universities.

At the beginning of the new academic year, the number of students who will be able to receive training under Yandex programs will grow to 15,000 – a 50% increase over last year. The programs will be available in 17 regions of Russia, and the number of partner universities will reach 39. For the first time, the company’s educational initiatives will appear in the Voronezh, Kaliningrad, Rostov, and Tula regions, as well as in Krasnoyarsk Krai.
The flagship AI360 bachelor’s program, which Yandex implements jointly with Sber, will also expand significantly. Starting in the fall of 2025, the number of places on it will increase by one and a half times. The current participants – such as ITMO, MIPT, National Research University Higher School of Economics and Innopolis University – will be joined by St. Petersburg State University. The program is focused on training developers and engineers in the field of artificial intelligence.
In addition, Yandex will become an industry partner at ten universities as part of the federal project “Cadres for Digital Transformation”. This will allow to attract 1.5 thousand more students in data analysis and software development.

Jointly with MIPT, National Research University Higher School of Economics and Skoltech, the company is launching new applied master’s programs that focus on robotics and the development of smart devices. Students will be able not only to study theory, but also to undergo practical training, participating in the creation of real products – from warehouse robots to devices for smart homes. These courses will be taught by current engineers and managers from the Yandex Robotics team.
The introduction of artificial intelligence into school and university education also continues. This year, more than 100,000 students in grades 5-8 are mastering math with the help of Yandex Textbook’s AI assistant. And more than 200 thousand high school students are preparing for the USE in computer science using an intelligent simulator based on YandexGPT. In the spring of 2025, the company released free AI tools for teachers – both school and university teachers.
