In an interview with The Verge, Microsoft’s vice president of mixed reality Robin Seiler confirmed that the company is discontinuing development of HoloLens. Instead, it will focus on cloud and AI technologies, which will form the basis for the IVAS military platform.

Back in 2021, Microsoft awarded a $21.9 billion contract to the U.S. Army to create augmented reality headsets. The contract now goes entirely to Anduril, and the cloud infrastructure will remain Azure-based.
