Microsoft and Activision Blizzard have extended their merger agreement through October

Microsoft and Activision Blizzard have agreed to extend their merger agreement through Oct. 18, 2023. The decision to extend the agreement came after the original deadline to finalize the $69 billion deal expired on Tuesday.

Microsoft and Activision Blizzard have agreed to extend the agreement until October 2023.

The European Commission approved the deal in May and it was cleared in the US last week after Microsoft won a lawsuit against antitrust authority — the Federal Trade Commission. However, the company has yet to get approval from the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), which remains the last major hurdle to finalizing the deal.

«Together with Activision, we are announcing an extension of our merger agreement through October 18 to allow ample time to resolve the latest regulatory issues» —Microsoft President Brad Smith said. «We will fulfill all commitments agreed with the EC and other regulators and continue to work with the CMA on the issues raised in the UK. We are confident in our prospects to see this deal through to completion».
