Year-to-date sales of the foldable Samsung Galaxy Z in Europe exceed Galaxy Note sales

The groundbreaking Galaxy Note series was discontinued in 2020, as Samsung shifted its focus to releasing the Galaxy Fold in 2019 and the Galaxy Z Flip in 2020. It may have seemed like a risky move at the time, but it has paid off — annual sales of Samsung’s foldable devices in Europe have already surpassed those of the old Note series.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 went on sale in 38 European countries on Aug. 11. Since then, sales of the two devices have surpassed the early sales of the Galaxy Note series, which also went on sale in August.

This isn’t just early hype — the company cites industry experts who predict that sales of foldable phones will exceed 10 million units this year (this includes not only the Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, but earlier models as well).
