Apple has launched free virtual courses at Apple Manufacturing Academy

Apple has expanded its Apple Manufacturing Academy program – the first set of free online courses are now available for companies nationwide.

Earlier this year, the company launched its first in-person academy in Detroit in partnership with Michigan State University. The project is focused on training SMEs in smart manufacturing technologies. The initiative is part of Apple’s $600 billion investment package in the U.S., which also includes manufacturing servers in Texas, expanding data centers, and building additional research teams.

Online Course Program

Virtual classes are available starting today on a wide range of topics in advanced manufacturing: automation, predictive maintenance, quality optimization, and the application of machine learning with computer vision. Also included in the program is training in professional development skills – communication and presentation. Apple emphasizes that this is the first phase of the online modules, and they will be added regularly.

According to Apple COO Sabih Khan, moving the training materials to an online format should make it easier for small and medium-sized companies to access knowledge and help them develop competencies in high-tech manufacturing.

Apple’s chief operating officer Sabih Khan says the move to an online format should make it easier for SMEs to access knowledge and help them develop competencies in high-tech manufacturing.

Accessibility of materials

The first set of virtual courses are hosted on the Michigan State University platform. The training is available for free and open to participants from across the country.
