Mass production of ABS and ESP systems has been launched in Russia

The production capacity of Russian enterprises allows to fully meet the needs of the automotive industry in ABS and ESP systems. This was stated by Vasily Shpak, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, at the conference “Digital Industry of Industrial Russia” (DIRR).
The output volumes meet the demand of automakers
According to Vasily Shpak, in 2024, more than 500,000 anti-lock and anti-idling systems were produced in the country. This volume is enough to meet the current needs of domestic automakers.
At the same time, there is a need for more than 500,000 anti-lock braking and anti-idling systems.
“Production capacity allows us to confidently say: any demand of the automotive industry for ESP and ABS systems will be completely covered. In 2025, production volumes will directly depend on demand from automobile plants. Production is carried out for specific orders – no one will make such products for stock,” explained the representative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Production is organized at two key enterprises
According to Shpak, the production of electronic units is organized at two industrial sites: Itelma produces systems for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, and Scientific and Design Bureau of Computing Systems produces systems for trucks and buses.
According to current estimates, Itelma’s capacity allows it to produce up to 859,000 units annually. The launch of the first serial production of ABS and ESP for the passenger car segment took place in Kostroma in July 2023.
