First look at Omoda C3: new affordable crossover revealed in design sketches

Chery has revealed the exterior of its most compact and potentially most affordable crossover under the Omoda brand, the C3. The new model was shown in stylized design sketches, where the car appears in a crossover coupe body with expressive features typical of models such as the Geely Coolray and the GAC GS3.

The sketches show a modern and aggressive look with a distinctive soaring roofline and a sweeping silhouette. Only one interior variant has been shown so far, but even from it we can see that the interior will feature an original design with a vertically mounted multimedia system display – an element increasingly common in the new generation of Chinese manufacturers.

Information about the C3 model first started circulating in 2023, when a version appeared about the development of a new “entry” crossover in the Omoda lineup, which will be more affordable than the already known on the Russian market C5. Then it was assumed that the model will be based on the platform from Chery Tiggo 3x, known outside China also as the updated Tiggo 2. However, now representatives of the brand emphasize: C3 is created as an independent model with a focus on global markets, and not as a derivative of existing cars.
The C3 is expected to get several versions with different types of powertrains: a gasoline version, a hybrid and an all-electric variant. Exact specifications and equipment are still being kept secret, but it is already known that the model is being developed with an eye on a wide international audience, including the Russian market.

Two models are currently sold under the Omoda brand in Russia: the compact crossover C5, which starts at 1.9 million rubles including current promotions, and the sedan S5, available from 1.8 million. They will soon be joined by the larger C7 crossover, a mid-size model that will be a step above the C5 and will compete with such players as the Geely Atlas, Haval F7 and Jetour Dashing.
