New Citroen C5 Aircross: second generation crossover premiere

Citroen has unveiled a new generation of the C5 Aircross crossover. The novelty has retained the features of the concept and for the first time received a version with an electric powertrain.

The C5 Aircross is built on the STLA Medium platform – the same one used for the Peugeot 3008 and Opel Grandland. The body is 152mm longer and now measures 4652mm, while the wheelbase has increased by 60mm to 2790mm. All the increase has been used to increase rear passenger space: the backrest can now be adjusted from 21 to 33 degrees.

  • A mild hybrid with 145 hp, based on a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine supplemented by an electric motor in a dual-clutch robotic transmission. The electronics are powered by a 0.9 kWh battery installed under the driver’s seat.
  • Supercharged Hybrid, which combines a 1.6-liter gasoline «four» engine, an electric motor and a 21 kWh battery. On a single charge you can drive up to 85 kilometers in all-electric mode, and the total power of the system reaches 196 hp

All-electric versions will join the lineup later with a range of up to 520 and 679 kilometers, respectively.

The second-generation Citroen C5 Aircross is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2025. It will be priced at around £35,000 in the UK, making it more affordable than the Peugeot 3008.

As for Russia, the first-generation C5 Aircross continues to be produced at the Automobile Technologies plant in Kaluga. The price of the 2025 model starts at 4 million rubles, while the previous year’s cars can be found from 3.9 million rubles.

The New Citroen C5 Aircross: second-generation crossover premiere was first published on ITZine.ru.
