Although it’s been about three years since the Note hatchback was last updated, Nissan still maintains its popularity in the market. Despite such a significant age (cars in this class are modernized much more frequently), the Japanese model has remained one of the most sought-after in the home market. And last year it became the sales leader in its segment. However, Nissan decided not to limit itself to the old Note design and decided to completely redesign the car, creating a completely new model based on this hatchback.

According to official information, the next version of the Nissan Note car will be available for purchase as early as next year. According to representatives of the Japanese company, the new model will have a different positioning. In addition to the standard hatchback, buyers will be offered a 7-seat modification. To install an additional row of seats, engineers plan to increase the wheelbase. The designers also plan to install rear sliding doors to make it easier to get in/out. In its essence, the next Note model, if these innovations are realized, will be a compact but full-fledged minivan with three rows of seats. No such version of this model has ever been produced before.

The engineers are rumored to be upgrading the hybrid powertrain currently available. At the same time, its basis will remain the same. Recall that the hybrid setup includes a 1.2-liter, 80-horsepower gasoline motor and an electric motor that develops up to 100 hp of usable power. This unit will appear on front- and all-wheel-drive versions of the Nissan Note.

Officially, details of the Japanese automaker’s exterior have not been disclosed. However, according to preliminary reports, we can expect non-standard V-shaped headlights for the front light, one of which reaches almost to the windshield. Engineers will also significantly expand the radiator grille, while keeping the recognizable metal bar. In addition, the rear pillars will be painted in black, creating the impression of a “soaring” roof. A similar design style is already applied to some other models of this Japanese brand. Moreover, the manufacturer is also likely to add trapezoidal niches for fog lamps.

The next-generation Nissan Note is apparently scheduled to go on sale early next summer.
