Nio is preparing a 5-meter Onvo L90 electric crossover for the whole family

Chinese company Nio, which sold more than 220,000 electric vehicles last year, is preparing to debut a new model in the family SUV segment. It is a full-size electric crossover Onvo L90, developed within the sub-brand Onvo, focused on more affordable models. The new vehicle seats seven people, is equipped with all-wheel drive and has an impressive total power output of up to 590 horsepower.

Dimensions and design: elegant power without frills

Onvo L90 boasts impressive dimensions: the body length is 5.15 meters and the distance between the axles is 3.11 meters. At the same time, the exterior of the car does not seek to surprise with aggression – on the contrary, designers have staked on calm, verified lines. The smoothly rounded hood, short front overhang, rearward-sloping cabin and rising sill lines visually lighten the large body, giving it a swiftness.

Practicality is also top-notch – wide rear doors make it easy to get into the third row, and there are two lidars on the roof, above the windshield, for autonomous driving systems.

Technical specs: no details yet, but with ambition

Technical information about the new product is still limited, but it is known that the Onvo L90 will get a twin-motor all-wheel-drive setup. In one configuration, the combined output will reach 590 hp, where the front electric motor produces 100 kW and the rear one 340 kW.

Battery details are being kept under wraps for now, but Nio has already confirmed that the batteries will be replaceable – following the brand’s proprietary quick-swap technology, which the brand is actively rolling out across China. The company already has thousands of express swap stations at its disposal, allowing drivers to swap out dead batteries in minutes.
