Strategic Context

The unveiling of the GLC EQ was particularly significant against the backdrop of a fresh report from the organization Transport & Environment. The report says that Mercedes is lagging behind EU environmental targets for the period 2025-2027, while its European rivals are ahead of schedule. The reason is cited as the brand’s reliance on profitable gasoline cars. A new electric lineup, including the GLC EQ, could help close the gap and reduce the risk of billions of dollars in fines.
