For the local version has already received Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) — a mandatory document for sales on the Russian market.
Manufacturing and certification
The actual production started earlier: the first cars rolled off the assembly line back in August. The company «Baltavto», associated with «Avtotor» was in charge of the registration of OTTS for the Russian assembly.
To establish production of the C7, the plant was modernized: robotic welding lines were installed and a new painting complex was put into operation, designed to process up to 200,000 bodies per year.
It was previously unclear where exactly Omoda would assemble the C7. Initially, the model was certified for production at the Kaluga plant «AGK» (a former Volkswagen facility), where Tenet crossovers — actually Chery cars with other emblems
