The need to update the lineup

The announcement of new models has come at the right time. Faced with an outdated model lineup and stagnant sales, Tesla is desperate for a successful product. Musk said that new cars are in development, showing a slide with illustrations of three cars under white covers. However, he did not mention any details about what to expect.

«Obviously, we have new products that we’re working on in secret,» Musk said. «I think they’re going to be pretty special. »

Possible new models

One of the vehicles appears to be a tall and square van. The other two looked lower and more streamlined. Tesla plans to unveil its long-awaited robotaxi on August 8, so one of the hidden models could be this particular vehicle. In April, the company also said it was accelerating the launch dates for new models, including more affordable cars. Those models, Tesla said, should arrive in late 2024 or early 2025.

Announcements from the past

Tesla already showed similar images of two secret vehicles last April in its Master Plan Part 3. In that document, the company mentioned that the Tesla equivalents of a compact car, a commercial/passenger van, and a bus have yet to be determined.
