GAC S7 hybrid crossover is officially coming to Russia – sales start by the end of 2025

GAC company GAC is preparing for the official release on the Russian market hybrid crossover S7. This was reported by dealers of the brand, as well as the publication “Chinese cars”. The premiere of this model for the Chinese market took place only in early spring, so that in Russia will come one of the freshest representatives of the brand.

S7 will be a competitor to the Lixian L6 and will get several versions

The novelty is almost 5 meters long (about 4.9 meters) and will be positioned as a direct competitor to the Lixian L6, another large hybrid crossover from the PRC. According to information from dealers, the GAC S7 is expected to appear in showrooms as early as mid-summer, just after the release of the all-wheel-drive version of the GS4.

All versions of the S7 are based on a hybrid powertrain with a 160-hp 1.5-liter turbo engine. And the engine not only charges the battery, but also directly drives the front wheels. Thus, the power scheme works and in serial, and in parallel mode. For Russia, however, only the serial variant can be chosen, which is simpler and more economical.

Front- and all-wheel drive versions – up to 500 hp combined

In the front-wheel-drive configuration, the gasoline motor is paired with a 231-hp electric motor. And in the more powerful version, another electric motor with 109 hp is added to the rear axle, giving a total of over 500 hp of power and all-wheel drive.

• 21.3 kWh – base version (up to 115 km of electric travel);
• 36.3 kWh – for senior versions (up to 205 km on electric power);

The total range of the GAC S7 Hybrid reaches between 905 and 1,150 kilometers on a mixed cycle.

Prices in China and expectations in Russia

In the home market, the GAC S7 costs from 175,800 to 229,800 yuan – that’s roughly 1.97-2.57 million rubles at the current exchange rate. However, in Russia, the starter versions will most likely not be officially sold, and the local lineup will start with more advanced configurations.

The S7 is already available through parallel imports: prices for such specimens vary from 3.5 to 4.4 million rubles, depending on configuration and region.
