Electric car sales in Russia down 68.5% in the first quarter of 2025

Only 1.9 thousand new electric cars were sold on the Russian market in January-March 2025, a 68.5% drop compared to the same period last year. In March alone, sales amounted to 585 units, which also shows a serious drop – by 76.6% in annual terms. Such data is cited by the agency «Autostat».
According to the results of the first quarter, the leader among brands was Zeekr – the company sold 689 cars, which is 76.1% less than a year earlier. Second place went to Avatr brand with 193 electric cars sold (down 20.6%), and the third line was taken by Russian brand Evolute with 164 cars (minus 60.6%).
If we consider only March, Zeekr was also in first place with 225 cars sold, down 81.5% compared to March 2024. It was followed by Avatr (84 units, down 40%) and Chinese brand Ora, which showed growth with 52 cars, a 300% increase year-on-year.
Avatr’s sales were also the highest, with 52 cars sold, up 300% year-on-year.
Of the models in the first quarter, the Zeekr 001 electric car was the most popular, with sales of 384 units, down 80.2% year-over-year. The Avatr 11 (164 units, down 23.7%) and the Evolute I-Pro (124 units, down 65.1%) were also in the top three.
