AvtoVAZ is mulling over the prospect of releasing a certain model with a fundamentally new powertrain – it will combine a gasoline engine and an electric motor.

AvtoVAZ’s first hybrid will feature all-wheel drive. The engine spins the front wheels, and an electric motor is responsible for the rear wheels. It’s not yet known whether such a hybrid will become a production model, but the technology could be used in a crossover based on the Lada Vesta.
