Apple patented a buckle for car seat belts

Although Apple has yet to confirm that it is working on a car of its own making, it is actively working to improve technology for cars. Today it was revealed that the company has patented a buckle for the seatbelt in a car. The patent is called the “Indicator Pad Stopper.”
In essence, Apple wants to put a light indicator inside the buckle. The patent describes a translucent buckle surface or tiny holes that let light through. The buckle will illuminate when needed, making it easier to feel. As soon as the belt tongue is inserted in the clip, the light will turn off. This means that the seatbelt is successfully buckled. As soon as the vehicle comes to a stop, the buckle will light up red again.
It will be interesting to see if the company uses this technology in its own electric car.
