YouTube faced problems in Russia and other countries: videos stopped uploading

In the past 24 hours, international outage tracking service Downdetector has recorded a significant increase in the number of YouTube complaints. The highest number of complaints occurred in the evening, after which the number of complaints began to gradually decline.
Russian platform “Failure.rf” also reported problems with YouTube’s performance and presented its own outage graph. According to the graph, problems with the service were especially noticeable in the evening. The outages peaked at a certain hour, after which the number of problems remained high but gradually decreased.
Graphics from the Russian platform also show that the glitches were widespread across Russia, but the problems peaked in Moscow (28%), St. Petersburg (8%), and Krasnodar Krai (5%).
Users reported problems in both YouTube’s web version and its mobile apps. The main complaint has been difficulty playing videos, but access to the site itself has not been disrupted.
Alexander Khinshtein, a lawmaker, earlier announced plans to slow down YouTube in Russia.
