Xiaomi has updated HyperOS 2 with AI editor and synchronization

Xiaomi has started rolling out the HyperOS 2 update in China in phases. The new version of the system comes with improved photo editing features, AI-powered tools, faster syncing between devices, and performance optimizations.
Photo editor gets AI-powered features
The Photos app now supports AI Matting 2.0, an algorithm that lets you more accurately cut out objects and replace backgrounds with dynamic scenes that depend on time of day, weather, or geolocation. It also adds the ability to enhance group portraits with smart filters.
Animated stickers, collages with flexible layout, and customizable templates are now available. Photo sorting is now automatic, with photos grouped by people, time, or place. The search engine supports queries like “May trip” or “wedding photos.”
The new Memory Album feature automatically creates themed photo stories based on this information.
Performance and cloud improvements
The update addresses a number of interface responsiveness issues. The status bar and gesture prompts now appear without delay when you return to the homescreen. Animations and transitions are smoother.
Photos and videos uploaded to Xiaomi Cloud are now saved in their original quality. The gallery allows you to view both local and cloud media files in a single interface. Users can track the upload status and storage utilization in real time.
Syncing between devices is now faster
The update also improves file handling and collaboration between devices. Photos can now be searched and shared between Xiaomi smartphones, tablets and TVs faster. Shared albums are automatically synchronized across all devices.
A new Smart Service panel has been added. It displays photo statistics, duplicates, memory usage patterns, and offers suggestions for cleaning it up.
The HyperOS 2 update is rolling out in phases and is only available in China for now. No word yet on a global release date.
