New photo sharing app TikTok Notes has been released

After competitors introduced «Reels» to compete with TikTok in 2020, the latter responded with its own version of stories in 2022. Now TikTok is releasing a new photo-sharing app called Notes, but with a twist of its own.

The platform, owned by ByteDance, announced the launch of TikTok Notes via its official X (formerly Twitter) account. But it’s not available to everyone just yet. For now, TikTok Notes is only available in Australia and Canada, according to Android Authority. If you live in one of those countries, you can purchase the app from the Google Play Store or the App Store.

The «Notes» app is completely separate from the main TikTok app and is designed specifically for text and photo sharing. As such, it’s not just a tweak to the main app. As for when users in the US will be able to get their hands on it, TikTok has remained silent for now. However, you can change your Play Store region to download the app.

TikTok Notes isn’t reinventing the wheel. It still has some features familiar from other social networks, like the ability to post multiple photos in a carousel, control over who can comment, and other things you’d expect from a photo-sharing app.
