Microsoft Teams will get screenshot and note-taking protection – launching summer 2025

Microsoft Teams will soon allow meeting organizers to prevent participants from taking screenshots and recording the screen. The feature, called Prevent Screen Capture will arrive in July 2025 and will be available on PCs and mobile devices. This is stated in Microsoft’s official roadmap update.
What does the new feature do
Prevent Screen Capture is a setting that allows the ability to record the screen and take screenshots to be blocked. When a participant tries to take a screenshot, he/she will see just a black screen instead of the content.
The feature will be enabled through the Enhanced Meeting Protection and will work:
- when participating from a computer or laptop
- when connecting from mobile devices
- if the device does not support locking, video will simply not be available
Why is this necessary?
The feature comes in handy in situations where the following are discussed:
- confidential materials
- internal presentations
- financial or legal data
- plans prior to product announcement
Yes, in most cases presentations are the opposite of what you want to share, but in the world of corporate security the ability to block recording is a plus.
When will it appear?”
According to current information, the worldwide launch is expected in July 2025. The feature will be available to all Teams users as part of General Availability, i.e. on all plans and in all regions, with no restrictions.
