Apple admits delaying updated Siri despite second-quarter revenue growth

Apple reported strong financial results for the second quarter of 2025, but officially confirmed something that has long worried users: the release of an updated version of Siri is being delayed again.
The company reported revenue of $95.4 billion – up 5% from the same period last year. But amid the growth, during a call with investors, CEO Tim Cook touched on a touchy subject – the delay of a new, “smart” Siri that was supposed to be a major part of Apple’s Intelligence initiative.
At the end of the call, CEO Tim Cook said that the company’s new Siri would be delayed.
Cook explained that Apple needs more time to bring the voice assistant up to the company’s “quality standards.” Progress is being made, he said, but the product isn’t ready for release yet.

When asked directly what the reason for the delay was, Cook didn’t go into details, only noting that work was taking longer than expected. This came as a disappointment to many, especially since Apple announced the “new Siri” almost a year ago. At the time, she was envisioned as a context-aware and more conversational assistant integrated into iPhones, iPads and Macs.
Since then, Siri has received only minor improvements — a new interface, the ability to ask clarifying questions, and text input. The major update now appears to be pushed to iOS 19, and it’s not certain that it’ll arrive in the base version – it might not reach users until 2026.

Back in March, Apple admitted that the launch of Siri 2.0 was behind schedule. Now that this information has been confirmed by Tim Cook himself, it’s clear that the situation is serious. This could be a blow to user expectations, especially given how heavily Apple has been promoting the iPhone 16 lineup with a focus on Apple Intelligence.
Yes, as Cook noted, some of the features are already available, but the actual launch has been rather sluggish. Many users were waiting for a pumped-up Siri, not sidekicks like Genmoji, Image Playground, or ChatGPT integration.
