Top 10 most anticipated TV series of 2025

It’s impossible to say that there weren’t a lot of TV series in 2024. However, not even the first month of 2025 has passed, and already new TV series and new seasons have been revealed. Seven of the 10 most anticipated TV series of 2025 will be released in the first half of the year.

Seven of the 10 most anticipated TV series of 2025 will be released in the first half of the year.

Our picks will include four series from HBO, two from Disney+, with NBC, Netflix, FX and Apple TV+ taking the remaining spots. This is just a small sampling of the shows that will be released in 2025, so there’s always a chance that there will be some other interesting new additions later on.

Some of these shows will be released in 2025.

10. Force Majeure: Los Angeles (Feb. 23)

TV series

The big question behind NBC’s “Force Majeure: Los Angeles” is whether it can replicate the success of “Force Majeure.” “Force Majeure” was a smash hit on Netflix in 2023. However, it will be extremely difficult for the new series to recreate the same interesting dynamic that was between both Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams). Once Upon a Time TV has already tried to do a spin-off, however it came out so-so. We hope and believe that “Force Majeure: Los Angeles” will come out right and the audience will like it.

In the spin-off, Macht will have a recurring or guest role, but the entire burden will fall on the shoulders of series veterans Stephen Amell and Josh McDermitt, who will play new characters Ted Black and Stuart Lane, respectively. Will they be able to be half as funny as Harvey and Mike? We’ll find out pretty soon, as the premiere date is February 23.

9. Day Zero (Feb. 20)

.

TV series

If Netflix decides to scale up its series to a higher level, the company is unrivaled at it. The new political thriller “Day Zero” stars Oscar winners Robert De Niro and Angela Bassett in the lead roles, with Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Connie Britton, Dan Stevens, Matthew Modine and Bill Camp rounding out a very impressive cast.

No plot details are specifically revealed, but it is known that the story centers on a massive cyberattack with global implications. President Mitchell (Bassett) listens to his advisor, George Mullen (De Niro), while the nation will try to recover and respond to the emergency. All episodes will be released simultaneously on Feb. 20.

8. Split, Season 2 (Jan. 17)

TV series

It’s been almost three years since the last episode of Split’s first season was released on Apple TV+. But that wait is finally over, and we’ll be able to watch the second season very soon, namely on January 7. The plot of the series has Mark Scout (Adam Scott), Helly Riggs (Britt Lower), Burt Goodman (Christopher Walken), Irving Bayliff (John Turturro), and others working for Lumon Industries, a company that has successfully “split” their personal and work memories. It’s a complicated process that only seems comfortable at first. But in fact, over time, people begin to forget who they really are, remembering only parts of their lives at certain hours.

And then, over time, people begin to forget who they really are, remembering only parts of their lives at certain times.

The first season ended after some employees found a way to temporarily keep their work identities out of the office and learned that Lumon had been lying to them. Helly is the company’s heir, and Mark’s supposedly deceased wife, Gemma (Dichen Lachman), was working in his office under the name Ms. Casey. Such employees were discovered and returned to their outside identities.

7. White Lotus, Season 3 (Feb. 16)

TV series

Each season of “White Lotus” is a new black comedy/drama from HBO with a new setting and only a few returning characters. In season three, Belinda Lindsay (Natasha Rothwell) is the only character to return as the plot shifts to the White Lotus resort in Thailand.

This season’s cast is led by Fallout’s Walton Goggins, along with Carrie Coon, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger and others. Everyone comes to “White Lotus” with their own stories and plans, but not everyone leaves in one piece because intrigue and trouble can be stronger than they are. The new season will begin on February 16 and, unlike previous seasons, will consist of eight episodes.

6. It: Welcome to Derry

TV series

The smartest thing the team behind the TV series “It: Welcome to Derry” was to bring in Bill Skarsgard to reprise his role as Pennywise the clown from “It” and “It 2.” “Welcome to Derry” is a prequel to Stephen King’s novel and the movies based on it.

Although there are no specific plot details, it’s already known that Pennywise attacks the city almost every three decades. The series will be set in an earlier period of the 20th century, and the cast includes Jovan Adepo, Chris Mehl, Taylor Page, James Remar and Steven Rider. HBO has yet to set a premiere date, but it’s definitely due to hit screens before the end of 2025.

5. Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (late 2025)

TV series

HBO wanted more series based on “Game of Thrones,” and now it has a second spin-off. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is based on George R.R. Martin’s short stories “The Tales of Dunk and Egg,” set roughly 80 years before the events of the main series and after the events of “House of the Dragon.”

Peter Claffey plays the role of Dunk, or Ser Duncan the Tall, in the series. He is a poor traveling hedge knight with few prospects in the seven kingdoms. However, Dunk soon finds a friend and squire in the person of Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), a young man who is secretly Prince Aegon Targaryen and one of the heirs to the Iron Throne. Their adventures have a more light-hearted tone than some of George R.R. Martin’s other stories. But this is still a sequel to A Song of Ice and Fire, which means that even Dunk and Egg’s lives are not immune to tragedy.

4. Alien: Earth (Summer 2025)

TV series

As scary, creepy, and dangerous as the xenomorphs in the “Alien” franchise movies are, they’ve never attacked earth before. Which means most humans have never had the threat of encountering them. However, the upcoming prequel “Alien: Earth” will show that the terrifying creatures have already been here. So far, only a short teaser for the series has been released. But Noah Hawley, the creator of the series, has extensive experience adapting “Fargo” on FX, as well as “Legion” based on Marvel Comics.

Timothy Olyphant of “Justice” will play the role of a synth who will mentor the show’s main character, Wendy (Sydney Chandler), a woman who supposedly has the body of an adult and the mind of a child. From what little we know about the series, it appears that the xenomorphs arrive on Earth as a result of a spaceship crash. And since then, the threat they pose has only grown.

And the threat they pose is only growing.

3. Andor, Season 2 (April 22)

TV series

The prequel series to “Outcast One: Star Wars,” “Andor” truly changed the game of the “Star Wars” franchise, creating the most politically charged story to date in the universe. The second season of “Andor” was delayed due to the Hollywood strikes of 2023, but filming has now wrapped and we will soon see how the story ends. By the end of the first season, Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, has completely radicalized and become a member of the Rebel Alliance. The final season of the series will showcase the final years of Cassian’s life, up until his first scene in “Outcast One.”

The final season of the series will show the final years of Cassian’s life, up until his first scene in “Outcast One.

While Cassian’s fate has already been decided, questions remain about what will happen to Luten Rael (Stellan Jon Skarsgard) and other interesting supporting characters. Season 2 will also feature the origin story of everyone’s favorite droid, K-2SO, as well as the return of Orson Krennic, played by Ben Mendelsohn. The first episodes of the second season will be released as early as April 22.

2. Daredevil: Born Again (March 4)

.

TV series

Marvel’s “Daredevil” was the highest-rated of the six series that debuted on Netflix nearly a decade ago. So it’s a good sign that Marvel Studios has changed course, deciding to release “Daredevil: Born Again,” which originally excluded supporting actors from the first show. Instead, Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will be rejoined by Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Ayelet Zurer, and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher.

At the end of the show’s run, Marvel Studios has decided to reunite the cast of “Daredevil: Born Again.

The series is set in the aftermath of “Echoes,” when Wilson Fisk (D’Onofrio) is close to becoming mayor of New York City. This brings him into conflict with attorney Matt Murdock (Cox), as well as Murdock’s alter ego, Daredevil. After the events of Daredevil’s third season, Fisk knows that Matt and Daredevil are the same person. It will be intriguing to see how this will change their dynamic. The series kicks off on March 4.

Season three of “Daredevil” is set to begin on March 4.

1. One of Us, Season 2 (April)

TV series

The HBO series “One of Us” exceeded expectations when it came out in 2023. Pedro Pascal of “The Mandalorian” fame played the lead role of Joel Miller, while “Game of Thrones” actress Bella Ramsey played Ellie, the girl he took with him to escort him across the country in a post-apocalyptic future. The second season will be based on the first half of the video game The Last of Us Part 2, and the bond between Joel and Ellie has grown noticeably colder since the end of the previous story.

The Last of Us Part 2

There’s more trouble ahead: season two’s Caitlin Dever will introduce Abby, a young woman who holds a serious grudge against Joel for something he did in season one. Isabela Merced from “Alien: Romulus” has also joined the cast as Dina, Ellie’s friend. In addition, Jeffrey Wright will reprise his role from the game as militia leader Isaac Dixon. The upcoming season consists of only seven episodes and is scheduled to premiere in April 2025. However, HBO has already confirmed that the film adaptation of The Last of Us Part 2 will consist of multiple seasons. So, after this season, we should expect at least one more.
