Google Pixel Watch 3: news, price and release date

The first Google Pixel Watch had some minor technical problems, but the second generation was a vast improvement. The new watch fixes the problems of the first model and is much better.
The Pixel Watch 3 is expected to be released later this year. While the official announcement is likely still a few weeks away, there are some things to talk about right now.

Google Pixel Watch 3: release date
The Pixel Watch came relatively late to the smartwatch industry, but has kept a consistent release schedule until this year. The first Pixel Watch debuted in October 2022, followed a year later by the Pixel Watch 2 in October 2023. Both models were released alongside Google’s latest flagship Pixel phones.

In a surprise announcement, Google has announced that its next Made by Google event will take place on August 13. The event is expected to showcase the Google Pixel Watch 3 and the Pixel 9 series. If reports are true, the Pixel 9 series is rumored to include the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL later this year.
.
In other words, the Pixel Watch 3 will likely hit stores in August or September this year.
Google Pixel Watch 3: price
With the announcement of the event came the first rumors about the price of the Google Pixel Watch 3. And, most likely, the cost of the gadget will increase slightly in comparison with its predecessor.
And the price of the gadget is likely to increase slightly in comparison with its predecessor.
According to French website Dealabs, the expected prices for the two versions of the Pixel Watch 3 in Europe are as follows:
- Google Pixel Watch 3 (41mm, Wi-Fi): €399 (~$436/$38,000 rub.)
- Google Pixel Watch 3 (41mm, 4G): 499 euros (~$546/48,000 rubles)
- Google Pixel Watch 3 (45mm, Wi-Fi): 449 euros (~$491/43,000 rubles)
- Google Pixel Watch 3 (45mm, 4G): 549 euros (~$601/53,000 rubles)

.
The original Pixel Watch cost $349 for the Wi-Fi version and $399 for the LTE variant. Similarly, the Pixel Watch 2 also cost $349 for Wi-Fi and $399 for LTE.
The Pixel Watch 2 also cost $349 for Wi-Fi and $399 for LTE.
Till there’s no confirmed pricing information, it’s best not to assume that Google plans to raise prices much. However, it’s almost certain that the new 45mm version will cost more than the first- and second-generation versions, which had smaller displays, like the upcoming 41mm version.
Google Pixel Watch 3: design
Till now, the overall design of the Pixel Watch lineup has been simple — a round dial, crown on the side, and a branded strap. It’s a minimalistic and understated design, and for some people, it’s one of the main draws of the Pixel Watch.
With the release of the Pixel Watch 3, however, that could change. One of the complaints many people have about the current Pixel Watch is that it only comes in one size — 41mm. At the moment, there are several reports that the Google Pixel Watch 3 will be available in a second size for the first time: 45mm.
The availability of multiple size options — a fairly common practice for smartwatches, with both Apple and Samsung offering two sizes. The Pixel Watch 3 will likely keep the same round dial we’ve seen for the past couple years, as there are no reports of any design changes.

In June, we finally saw rendered images of the Pixel Watch 3. As expected, Google is sticking to a similar design. However, instead of a 41mm version, the Pixel Watch 3 will come in 45mm versions.
The Pixel Watch 3 will also be available in 45mm.
The watch, dubbed the Pixel Watch 3 XL, looks the same as the regular Pixel Watch 3, except bigger. A bigger screen and battery are expected, as well as a higher price.
Google Pixel Watch 3: specs
The Pixel Watch 2 used a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 chip and 2GB of RAM. That’s a significant improvement over the first Pixel Watch, which used an Exynos chip.
The Pixel Watch 3 is a significant improvement over the first Pixel Watch, which used an Exynos chip.
There’s no word yet on which chipset will be used in the Pixel Watch 3, but given how much better the W5 was than the Exynos chip in the first model, we can’t imagine Google taking a step back. As we get closer to Google’s fall Pixel event, we should see more reports about what will be inside the Pixel Watch 3.
We’ll have to see more details about what will be inside the Pixel Watch 3.
On the other hand, there are already reports that the Pixel Watch 3 will feature an ultra-wideband (UWB) chip. This chip is used for location tracking and very accurate communication over short distances.
The Pixel Watch 3 will have an Ultra Wide Band (UWB) chip.
The addition of a UWB chip could mean a few things. The Pixel Watch 2 can already unlock the Android phone it’s paired with, but UWB allows it to do so faster and more accurately. UWB could also allow the Pixel Watch 3 to locate a lost Android phone, similar to what the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 do with their precision search feature.
In July, there was further confirmation that the next Pixel Watch will feature a UWB chip. We’ve also heard that they may support 5GHz Wi-Fi, which will improve overall data transfer performance. The original Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 only support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

Google Pixel Watch 3: software and updates
What about the software? The Pixel Watch 2 is currently running Wear OS 4, which is not much different from its predecessor Wear OS 3.5.
With the Pixel Watch 3, we’re likely to see Wear OS 5 later in the year as both Samsung and Google are working on it. Wear OS 5 will be based on Android 14. Since the Pixel Watch 2 relied heavily on Fitbit integration for health and fitness tracking, we should expect the same in the Pixel Watch 3.
Wear OS 5 will be based on Android 14.
The Pixel Watch 2 got at least three years of software updates, which is pretty decent. The Pixel Watch 3 should get similar support, if not better.

Google Pixel Watch 3: battery life
.
Reports have surfaced that the Pixel Watch 3 will have an increase in battery capacity. Unfortunately, it’s probably not enough to make a significant difference compared to the previous two Pixel Watch models.
The Pixel Watch 3 is likely to have more battery life than the previous two models.
The 91Mobiles report shows Google’s battery certification for the Pixel Watch 3, and it claims a 307 mAh battery. By comparison, the Pixel Watch 2’s battery had a 306 mAh capacity. Technically, it’s an improvement, but a minor one.
An improvement.
The higher-capacity battery — is a much more minor difference than the increase in capacity from the original Pixel Watch to the Pixel Watch 2. For reference, that jump was from 294 mAh to 306 mAh. The 1 mAh jump from the Pixel Watch 2 to the Pixel Watch 3 — is almost nothing.
With regards to charger information or charging speeds, nothing is known yet for the Pixel Watch 3. However, the Pixel Watch 2 can charge to 50 percent in 30 minutes, so we can assume that the Pixel Watch 3 will perform about the same.
