CES 2025: what to expect at the largest technology exhibition

Every January, most of the companies creating the most cutting-edge technological innovations descend on Las Vegas for CES, the world’s largest technology trade show. It’s not only an industry gathering, but also a launching pad for many of the products that will hit the market throughout the year.
TVs always take center stage, and that won’t change in 2025, with LG, Samsung and Panasonic unveiling their flagship lines for the year. But that’s not all — new home theater systems, some interesting new products, and the HDMI standard may be updated are waiting for us.

CES 2025 kicks off beginning Sunday, January 5. Here’s what we’re looking forward to.
LG
.

LG will appear at CES to launch new C and G series TV models. Aside from the news that the C5 and G5 (as we assume they’ll be called) have been certified for sale in the Korea Institute of Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Testing database, the leak contained photos of both models, the design of which is apparently unchanged from the C4 and G4. Nothing wrong with that, because it’s quality that counts, in this case.
So there’s nothing wrong with that.
A separate database also includes the G5, which claims a refresh rate of 165Hz. This will please PC gamers, as it means even faster response times. Unfortunately, it looks like the C5 won’t be equipped with MLA technology, as the device pictured doesn’t have the same anti-reflective coating as the G5.

Ahead of CES, LG also unveiled its next generation of QNED TVs. Among them — the first 100-inch QNED model, wireless connectivity and many successful OLED TVs, including a set based on the wireless M4.
They’re a lot of things.
Will we see one (or more) of LG’s 4,000-nit brightness TVs this year? We’re really hoping so…
Here’s hoping so.
Samsung

Like its South Korean counterpart LG, Samsung unveils a large number of TVs at CES every year. And we’ve got a pretty good idea of what it has in store.
The leak concerns the successor to Samsung’s S95D QD-OLED TV. According to the source, it will be called the Samsung S95F, not the S95E. This isn’t the first time the company has dropped the model ID — Hisense went from U8K to U8N, and Samsung followed the Galaxy Note 5 with the Galaxy Note 7 in 2016.
The leak is not the first time the company has dropped the model ID.
But the name — s not the most unusual aspect of the leak. But the size — is. Samsung is rumored to be going to release the S95F in an 83-inch model, which would be a first for a QD-OLED TV (the previous largest TV was 77 inches).
Samsung will also unveil its Premiere 8K projector at CES 2025. It is the first projector to be certified by the 8K Association. It supports HDR and has a brightness of 4500 ISO Lumens. Full specifications and pricing will be revealed at CES.

Panasonic

And once again, we’re expecting new TVs from Panasonic at CES. The 2024 flagship Z95A (MLA OLED second generation) was one of Panasonic’s first premium offerings, so the company will be looking to introduce another stunning TV.
The Z95A was unveiled at CES 2024, so we expect the next model to be announced at the conference in January. The Z95A scored a five out of five thanks to its bright but faithful picture and decent sound quality (for a TV, of course).
The Z95A is a great value for the money.
Panasonic may also announce a few models in the lower price range at CES 2025. The company has already impressed with the W90A in 2024, so we’ll see if the follow-up manages to top that.
The W90A is the only model in the range.
ASUS

SUS has confirmed that it will host an “Always Incredible” online event on January 7. The teaser page doesn’t reveal much in the way of details, but the website’s Google listing offers an eloquent phrase.
“See how ASUS is redefining and democratizing AI at CES 2025 by introducing a revolutionary line of more affordable Copilot+ PCs to make AI accessible to everyone…,” — reads an excerpt from the promotional message in Google search results. In other words, don’t be surprised to see cheaper PCs with artificial intelligence capabilities, perhaps powered by an eight-core Snapdragon X Plus chip.

The Taiwanese brand is no stranger to unusual discoveries either, having unveiled the dual-screen Zenbook Duo back at CES 2024. It wouldn’t be a shock if they show something equally unique at CES 2025. Otherwise, it’s thought the company might show off a 27-inch 4K monitor in Las Vegas as well.
Other CES 2025 exhibitors
At CES 2025, we’re expecting the announcement of the sequel to HDMI 2.1. HDMI 2.2 promises “next-generation HDMI technology and higher bandwidth,” which will reportedly enable “a wide range of higher resolutions and refresh rates and will be supported by a new HDMI cable.”
An HDMI 2.2 sequel is expected to be announced at CES 2025.
The rumored bandwidth is higher than HDMI 2.1 — 48Gbps, and we could see 8K/120Hz or 4K at even higher frame rates than the current 144Hz. All of this could push the production of 8K content.
