Yandex launches inline bot Alisa in Telegram
Yandex has rolled out an inline version of its AI neural network “Alisa” in Telegram. Now, users can simply type @alisa in the message input field, send a query, and get a response right in the same chat-no need to switch to a separate dialogue or add the bot to the conversation. The tool already supports fact-checking, image generation, recommendations, and translation, with Alisa including sources when providing answers.

The inline mode works similarly to Telegram’s built-in commands like @gif or @pic. According to Yandex, this functionality may soon be available in other messaging apps. The convenience is clear: users get quick facts or advice without leaving their current chat.
How to use @alisa in Telegram
Here’s how to get started with @alisa:
- Start by typing @alisa in the message input field.
- Add your question or instruction, then hit “Ask Alisa.”
- You’ll receive a reply as a message right in the same chat, with sources referenced when needed.
- Ask for images, leisure recommendations, translations, or fact checks.
What sets Alisa apart from other Telegram bots
While Telegram’s native bots have long provided GIFs and pictures, Alisa stands out with a fully-fledged neural network capable of generating text and citing sources. For Yandex, this launch continues a broader strategy: by the end of 2025, their similar inline service @pic became one of Telegram’s top tools for quick content sharing, and now the company is expanding its feature set.
The winners here are obvious: users get fast, easy access to search and content generation; Yandex deepens its engagement with its audience; and Telegram strengthens its ecosystem of commands. However, there are risks for independent bot creators and smaller services, as the simple @alisa command might siphon off some traffic from them.
What to expect from Alisa in messaging apps
Looking ahead, three scenarios are likely: wider integration into other messengers and platforms, enhanced moderation and filtering of Alisa’s responses, and business monetization opportunities-such as premium plugins for companies or branded replies. A key open question remains how Yandex will handle user privacy and data routing when queries run through third-party clients.
