Asus launches ROG Strix XG27JCG gaming monitor with 5K resolution and up to 330Hz refresh rate

Asus has officially launched the ROG Strix XG27JCG, stepping into the niche market of 5K gaming displays. This new 27-inch monitor targets users who demand a sharp image, gaming prowess, and professional-grade versatility all in one package.

The monitor features a Fast IPS panel boasting a native resolution of 5120 × 2880 pixels, a pixel density of 218 PPI, and a pixel pitch of just 0.116 mm. Sporting a 16:9 aspect ratio, it covers 97% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and arrives factory-calibrated to a Delta E accuracy below 2. Standard brightness sits at 350 nits, with peak HDR brightness hitting 600 nits, certified by VESA DisplayHDR 600. Color depth clocks in at 10-bit with support for 1.07 billion colors, while the contrast ratio is rated at 1500:1.

For gamers, the XG27JCG offers a default refresh rate of 180Hz with overclocking capabilities and an ultra-fast 0.3 ms GTG response time. It also includes a dedicated high-frame-rate mode that shifts the display from native 5K at 180Hz down to QHD resolution, enabling refresh rates up to 330Hz. This mode prioritizes max FPS over resolution detail. Support for FreeSync Premium Pro and G-SYNC compatibility ensure smooth gameplay free from screen tearing. Meanwhile, motion clarity tech like ELMB 2 and Trace Free help sharpen fast-moving visuals.

Connectivity options include DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and delivers up to 15W of power. There’s also a USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub and a headphone jack, although no built-in speakers are included. HDCP 2.3 support means the monitor can handle protected content reliably.

The ergonomic stand allows for tilt adjustments from −5° to +20°, 40° swivel, 90° pivot to portrait mode, and up to 110mm height adjustment. It is also VESA 100 × 100 compatible for mounting. Additional features include Asus’s Aura Sync RGB lighting and a Kensington lock slot for security.

The package includes a DisplayPort cable, a power cable, and a USB cable. Asus backs the XG27JCG with a three-year Rapid Replacement warranty, offering expedited device swaps and cross-shipping support if issues arise.

The Asus ROG Strix XG27JCG is priced at $849.
