Huawei officially unveiled the Nova 15 smartphone

The smartphone is powered by the Kirin 8020 processor — Huawei’s new 5G-enabled chip. The company claims it delivers a 62% increase in overall performance over the previous generation: 52% in multi-threaded CPU, 26% in GPU and 128% in NPU. Additionally, it utilizes «cloud-device-chip» coordination, which speeds up app launches, improves UI responsiveness and enhances gaming performance.

Out of the box, the Nova 15 runs HarmonyOS 6.0. The system has been given a suite of OS-level AI features, including smart gestures in the air, contactless data transfer and smart payments. Also supported are HarmonyOS’ proprietary communication technologies, such as satellite imaging via Beidou and 2.4 GHz StarLink autonomous communication.

The main camera is built within the Red Maple system and includes three modules: A 50-megapixel main sensor with f/1.9 aperture and 1/1.56-inch size, a 12-megapixel RYYB telephoto module for portraits with 3x optical zoom and optical stabilization, and a 1.5-megapixel multispectral sensor for more accurate color reproduction. The smartphone supports up to 30x digital zoom and 4K video recording. On the front, there’s a 50-megapixel front-facing camera with a wide 90-degree angle of view, 1/2.5-inch sensor, 4K video support and AIS stabilization.

A 6000 mAh silicon-anode battery is responsible for the battery life. Huawei SuperCharge Turbo 100W fast charging is supported.

The smartphone is equipped with advanced connectivity modules including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and USB Type-C. Multi-band GPS, Beidou, Galileo and NavIC positioning systems are also supported. The body is about 7.2 mm thick and weighs — approximately 196 grams. The device has IP65 dust and splash protection.

Huawei Nova 15 is available in China in two memory versions: the 256GB model is priced at 2,699 yuan (about $378) and the 512GB variant — at 2,999 yuan (about $420). The smartphone is available in Vibrant Green, Elegant Purple, Zero White and Phantom Black colors and is already on sale in the Chinese market.
