Everything Apple showed at its Sept. 12 presentation: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, Watch series 9 and Watch Ultra 2

Today was Apple’s main presentation this year, with another unusual slogan, “Wonderlust,” which translates to «Thirst for Wonder». The company focused almost all of its attention on the new iPhones and Apple Watch, as well as addressing environmental concerns. Here, we’ve rounded up the most important things from the event.
Here are the highlights from the event.
The Apple Vision Pro headset will be released early next year
.
Back in July, Apple announced that developers could start applying for Vision Pro developer kits. Today, at the «Wonderlust» event in Cupertino, CEO Tim Cook revealed another piece of news: the Vision Pro headset will still be released early next year.
Apple’s Vision Pro headset will still be released early next year.

The first Vision Pro testers were impressed with the headset’s display resolution, end-to-end video viewing and gesture recognition capabilities. It’s clear that the headset is capable, but the true test of its potential will lie in how it’s used. The stronger the Vision Pro app ecosystem is at launch, the more likely consumers will decide they need it.

Later in the day, Cook also revealed that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro will be able to shoot spatial video using the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras in combination. That feature will arrive later this year.
Apple announced the Watch Series 9, which has a handy double-tap feature
.
Apple has announced the Apple Watch Series 9, which will eventually get a new double-tap gesture. One of the biggest changes — the new S9 SiP (System in Package) processor. The processor has 5.6 billion transistors, a 30% faster graphics processor, and a quad-core neural engine.

This improves Siri’s handling of Siri requests on the device. The watch also features a second-generation ultra-wideband chip that helps pinpoint location with the iPhone. Another improvement — a brighter display: Apple claims the display can reach up to 2,000 nits of brightness, double that of the Series 8.
Another improvement is a brighter display.
The Series 9 also introduces «double-touch», which lets you press your index finger and thumb against each other to answer a phone call, for example. This is similar to the touch function that Apple demonstrated in the Vision Pro. And Apple already offers something similar through AssistiveTouch. The dual-touch feature will be available in October.

Apple Watch Series 9 will be available in aluminum in pink, star, silver, midnight and red, and stainless steel versions — in gold, silver and graphite. Apple Watch Series 9 will be available to order as early as Tuesday. They will go on sale on September 22. They are priced at $399.

Apple also claims some green improvements to the Apple Watch. The company claims it’s Apple’s first zero-carbon product in conjunction with the new Sport Loop strap, and the reduced packaging makes it easier to ship more devices at a time.

The Series 9 watch will ship with watchOS 10 — the latest operating system for smartwatches. WatchOS 10 comes out Sept. 18.
Apple announced the Apple Watch Ultra 2
The Ultra 2 looks similar to the first-generation Apple Watch Ultra, which means a significant upgrade is on the inside. The Ultra 2, like the new Series 9, will be powered by Apple’s new S9 SiP processor, which features a quad-core neural engine, as well as a second-generation location chip «Ultra Wideband».
This will enable new advanced features, including Siri processing on the device (which can access data from the Health app) and more accurate location tracking. A neural engine will make dictation «25%» more accurate. Externally, the watch features an updated display with 3,000 nits of brightness compared to the previous Ultra model, a 50 percent increase over the first Ultra.

Apple claims that the device has 72 hours of charge when running in low-power mode. The device can be used for scuba diving up to 40 meters deep, as well as freediving, and the Depth app now saves a log of each session.

Although the Ultra’s hardware has received an update, Apple Watch users will see significant changes this year in watchOS 10, which brings widgets, updated app icons, and new mapping and cycling features to the watch’s interface.

A new watch interface called Modular Ultra will use the outer edge of the display «to display real-time data including seconds, altitude or depth». And a new double-tap gesture will allow users to start and end phone calls more easily.
The Ultra 2 can be pre-ordered today for $799, and will go on sale on September 22.

Apple announced the iPhone 15 with a USB-C port, updated camera and dynamic island
We’ve been waiting a long time for the day when the iPhone would switch to the common USB-C standard instead of the Lightning connector. Last year, Apple confirmed that it’s moving to USB-C as required by the European Union, and now the iPhone 15 — the first iPhone to move to the standard.
And now the iPhone 15 — the first iPhone to move to this standard.
The iPhone 15 is priced from $799 for the 128GB model, and the iPhone 15 Plus — from $899 for the 128GB version. Both models will be available on September 22, and pre-orders will begin this Friday.
Pre-orders will begin this Friday.

USB-C — is good news, but if you were hoping for a new iPhone 15 design, it’s not going to happen this year. This year’s iPhone looks mostly the same as the iPhone 14 before it, and the iPhone 15 still features a 6.1-inch display.
The iPhone 15 is still a 6.1-inch display.
All iPhone 15 models will also come with a dynamic island. This is a tablet-shaped notch that first appeared in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, providing a new way to view some notifications and interact with apps. The iPhone 15 also features a Super Retina OLED display with Dolby Vision content support and 1600 nits of brightness. This display has a peak brightness of 2,000 nits in sunlight, double that of the iPhone 14.
The most notable update to the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, aside from the visible USB-C and Dynamic Island changes, is the improved camera system. The main camera sensor is now 48-megapixels, up from the 12-megapixel sensor found in the previous iPhone 14. There’s also a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, and improvements to portrait mode mean you no longer have to manually switch to portrait mode.
A new 12-megapixel telephoto lens is now available.
Apple is also improving night mode, Live Photos, and action mode in the iPhone 15’s camera. And if you like to take selfies, the front-facing camera has autofocus and portrait illumination.

In the iPhone 15, Apple has also updated the A16 chip, the same one used in last year’s iPhone 14 Pro models. Apple also promises that thanks to a higher-capacity battery, the iPhone 15 will last «all day». The iPhone 15 also features a second-generation ultra-wideband chip, just like the new Apple Watch Series 9.

This improves connectivity with other long-distance devices and also enables Find My’s precision search feature, which makes it easier to find friends if they have the latest iPhone 15.

Apple moves AirPods Pro case to USB-C
It would be a bit odd if Apple, while moving its iPhone lineup to USB-C, had left the AirPods Pro, popular among users, with Lightning charging ports. Predictably, it didn’t: Apple has announced that the AirPods Pro will now come with a USB-C charging case. This will allow buyers of the new iPhone 15 to charge the headphones using the same cable for both devices. You’ll also be able to charge the AirPods from your iPhone.
All of this will be possible with the USB-C charging case.
Besides the case, these are still the same second-generation AirPods Pro in every other way, and they’ll soon get new software features like Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, and more. Unfortunately, to get them, you’ll have to wait until the iPhone 15 is released on September 22.

At the presentation, Apple also announced an updated pair of its EarPods wired headphones, featuring a USB-C connector. But while the company has made changes to these headphones, the same can’t be said for the regular AirPods or AirPods Max earbuds. Apple hasn’t mentioned releasing these devices with USB-C, and rumors suggest that both products could get an update next year.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max with titanium cases and Action Button
Apple just announced new high-end iPhone smartphones: the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. They’re made of titanium, feature Action Buttons, and, Apple assures us, are the most powerful smartphones the company has ever released. The 15 Pro model is priced at $999 with 128GB of storage and the Pro Max — $1,199 with 256GB of storage. Both models will be available for pre-order this Friday and will go on sale Sept. 22.

This year’s Pro features a 6.1-inch screen and the Pro Max — 6.7-inch screen, the same as the new iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. Both devices are equipped with the A17 Pro chip, which Apple says is highly capable and can even match some high-performance PCs. Along with a redesigned GPU, Apple believes these devices can elevate the level of games you can play on your phone. (Of course, Apple likes to talk a lot about high-end gaming, and the results…don’t always match the reality.)
Apple likes to talk a lot about high-end gaming, and the results…aren’t always true.

The two phones have a USB-C port on the bottom, rather than the old Lightning port. But in the case of the Pro, it may be for more than just charging: Apple says the 15 Pro —s the first phone with 10Gbps data speeds, which will make it easier to get photos and videos (or large files of any kind) off the phone.
All that power is housed in a new, ruggedized body. From what we see in the video, it doesn’t look like it’s changed much, but it’s a major change. The new devices come in white, black, blue and «natural» colors. And, of course, Apple is proud of the sophisticated engineering behind the process.

The Action Button, which replaces the ringer switch on the left side of the iPhone Pro, — is a new button that can be customized to launch actions, call accessibility features, open the camera, turn on the flashlight, etc. By default, it’s still the ringer switch, but you’ll want to use it for more.
So you’ll want to use it for more.
The Pro models both feature Super Retina XDR displays with ProMotion technology and support both always-on display and the new StandBy mode in iOS 17.
Greg Joswiak, Apple’s chief marketing officer, promised that the 15 Pro and Pro Max feature the company’s best cameras — the equivalent of seven separate lenses. These include an upgraded 48-megapixel camera that supposedly shoots better in low light, captures less lens flare, and uses artificial intelligence systems to create full-size HEIF photos.

You can now change the default lens and shoot at multiple focal lengths — 24mm, 28mm and 35mm — within the main camera. You can also get a 5x optical zoom — the largest offered by Apple — with a 120mm focal length. Fans of Samsung’s latest cameras certainly won’t be thrilled with these specs, but for iPhone users, they’re a significant upgrade.
Samsung’s latest camera is a great upgrade.
When it comes to video, these devices can shoot 4K60 ProRes video, or even directly record to an external drive via the USB-C port (provided you have the appropriate cable). The 15 Pro will also be able to shoot «spatial video» that is, 3D content, which we’ve already seen on the Vision Pro — though that feature is coming later this year. Clearly, Apple sees the 15 Pro not only as a consumer device, but also as a professional tool for creatives and filmmakers around the world.
